Dean's Welcome

Welcome to the world of Communication, Fine Arts, and Humanities at ֲýapp!

We're delighted that you're exploring the vibrant and inspiring world of ֲýapp's College of Arts & Humanities (formerly Communication & Fine Arts). As the core of creative engagement at ֲýapp, our College is home to students who are passionate about innovation, impact, and excellence.

With 29 engaging degree programs and a choice of 23 minors, our offerings range from art, graphic design, theatre, dance, and music (including music education and music industry), to journalism, communication, English, creative writing, history, philosophy, and world languages. Approximately 1,100 undergraduate and graduate students call the College of Arts & Humanities (A&H) home, each pursuing their academic and creative goals within our learning community.

Our alumni are making their marks as educators, journalists, designers, communicators, performers, and cultural leaders across the nation and around the world. Through regular Study Abroad experiences in Europe, Asia, South America, and the Caribbean, our students gain international experience that complements their academic and artistic pursuits.

At A&H, learning extends beyond the classroom. Students actively engage in organizations such as our student newspaper, the Tropolitan; the on-campus television station, TrojanVision; the legendary “Sound of the South” Marching Band; or our honor societies and cultural associations. These experiences foster leadership, collaboration, and lifelong connections.

Whether you're pursuing a career in the fine arts, communication arts, humanities, media, or education, you'll find a place to grow, lead, and thrive here. We invite you to discover your voice, your path, and your future with us.

Welcome to the Arts. Welcome to ֲýapp. Go Trojans!

Warm regards,

Michael Thrasher, D.M.A.

International collaboration leads to Spain documentary

In 2021, Associate Professor of Design Chris Stagl initiated the beginning of a collaborative partnership with the University of Zaragoza's Fine Arts Center in Spain, eventually leading to a 2024 trip abroad to the small, “forgotten” town of Teruel and the production of a documentary.
